Having had absolutely no rain for months now, the ground is very hard and all the plants need water. I've been watering my cabbages, broccoli and cauliflowers until two days ago - yes, even in February. But today it's rained gently for odd parts of the day, with the occasional heavy burst - as you can see from the photo. Ideally, we need a fairly long period of gentle rain. The ground is so hard that heavy rainfall will just wash off and not help the vines at all.

Deux-Pieds at the end of the rainbow
